Registration for the Fall 2024 is now closed as the in-person sessions have already begun.
Thank you for your interest in the IOWPA Inspector Certificate Program! This certificate program provides a deep dive into the world of onsite septic inspections and provides a detailed, comprehensive schedule of requirements to provide participants with an in-depth knowledge of various types of systems across the state. The inspector program is a multi-step program that includes both in person training as well as in the field training and culminates with a rigorous exam. Those interested in the program should be prepared to set aside the dates advertised for in-person training and be committed to completing field work and the exam within the established timeframe of 12 months following the first in-person course. IOWPA will provide a list of inspectors across the state who are willing to provide shadowing opportunities but it will be the responsibility of the attendee to schedule those dates. In-person training will be offered on the dates listed in the annual program offering. All segments of the program are required in order to sit for the exam. The exam is 125 questions, is very comprehensive and thorough, and is built to challenge your knowledge in the field.
Inspectors who have earned our certificate are encouraged to use the certificate as a marketing tool to earn the trust of homeowners in your area and highlight your commitment to the field. Tools and resources will be provided to those earning the designation.
If you have questions about any portion of the program, please reach out to Julia at info@iowpa.org.
