Welcome to our new monthly Town Hall series where industry leaders join together once a month to talk about projects, challenges, new technologies, and other topics of interest to the septic and water quality community. The Town Hall series will take place virtually via Zoom on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. ET. Registration for each session is required and the sessions are free to attend. One CEU is available for those in attendance at each session and the events will be limited to one hour of discussion.
Microbial Induced Corrosion of Concrete – Mitigation Strategies
Microbiologically Induced Corrosion of Concrete (MICC) is a phenomenon that can occur in the presence of specific environmental and wastewater conditions.
During this session, Sam Lines with Concrete Sealants and Claude Goguen with the National Precast Concrete Association will discuss the conditions that can lead to MICC. They will explain the impact of septic system design, and how existing systems can be modified to help prevent issues. They will also talk about other strategies that can be used in tank manufacturing or in the field to protect the system. Information will be shared from numerous field and laboratory studies related to MICC.
